Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) is a non-ionic, water soluble cellulose ether.It is widely used as as thickener, protective colloid, stabilizer, suspending aids and water-retention agents in many industrial applications.HPMC is used as thickening and water retention agents in dry mortars, HPMC is the most important additive even though the addition rate is very low. HPMC can not dissolve in alcohol, ether and acetone without water, it can dissolve into clear or slight feculent colloidal solution in cold water.
